3W Networks to deliver telecom scope of QP Strategic Gas Transmission Project

3W Networks has been selected as the Telecom & Safety Systems Integrator for Qatar Petroleum’s Strategic Gas Transmission Project (SGTP).

The SGTP project is valued at USD 800 million and involves the laying of 211 kms of pipeline with associated stations and infrastructure. The project will transport 2000 MMSCFD1 of sweet lean gas from Qatar’s gas rich Ras Laffan area to different consumers via 36 inch diameter pipelines.

The main EPC contractor is Punj Lloyd of India and the control and electrical system integration will be implemented by UAE based CIMAC, 3W Networks will undertake the Telecoms and Safety packages as a subcontractor to CIMAC. 3W Networks has completed many projects for Qatar Petroleum and is one of the few systems integrators approved by Qatar’s largest Oil & Gas Company.

The Telecoms scope includes the Detailed Design, Engineering, Procurement, Integrated System Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing, Installation and Commissioning of an STM-16 SDH Optical Transmission Network and Access Control Equipment. The SDH system will support the Voice and Data signals of the SCADA network to new and existing stations. The Safety Systems scope includes implementing a Public Address General Alarm System (PAGA) system.

3W Networks is to supply equipment from its established partner Nokia Siemens Networks for the Optical Transmission system and Bosch for the PAGA system. The equipment is to be fully integrated with Qatar Petroleum’s existing Telecom and Security network.

The award of the SGTP contract by CIMAC demonstrates 3W Networks ability to provide a multi disciplinary integrated solution in the area of Telecommunication, Safety and Security solutions. A key factor in the selection of 3W Networks was due to its strong engineering capabilities and its significant local presence.
