Fernas Group an EPC contractor based in Turkey has selected 3W Networks as their Telecoms Systems Integrator for their Qatar Petroleum project to supply fuel gas to the Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) and the Gulf Cement Company (GCC) at Umm Bab in Dukhan.
The scope of work for the Telecoms Systems Integrator includes: Detailed Design, Engineering, Procurement, Systems Integration, Factory Acceptance Testing and the Installation & Commissioning of an Ethernet based optical transmission network for carrying data signals of the SCADA network in a redundant configuration to new and existing stations. 3W Networks will design the network using the latest industry hardened ethernet switches from Nokia Siemens Networks. The equipment is to be fully integrated with Qatar Petroleum's existing telecom network.
The Nokia Siemens Networks A-2140 Carrier Ethernet Edge Switch has been developed specifically for delivering MEF-based E-Line, E-LAN and E-Tree services in the most mission critical customer environments as well as in central offices, with stringent environmental requirements. This 1U MEF-certified device is fully NEBS compliant, equipped with two redundant hot-swappable AC or DC power supplies and Dry Contact alarm interface for alarm management and can help to migrate TDM-based traffic seamlessly over a high-performance, cost effective carrier ethernet network. The unit supports 50ms carrier-class protection without using Spanning Tree Protocol.
